Alter state is about bringing out the magnificent talent of Disabled communities to the creative industries. The arts and disability festival engaging artists and audiences from Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand will be a significant platform for contemporary arts in our region.

Melbourne’s Art Centre announces its debut event, disability arts festival from 12th September - 9th October. It will feature theatre, music, circus, and family works from companies and individual artists from across Australia and New Zealand.

It will surely set stage for aspiring creatives to explore their openings in the world of art and the festival will have both in-person and digital offerings.

“The festival is said to include Aotearoa artist Rodney Bell’s (Ngāti Maniapoto) autobiographical work, Meremere will show at the Fairfax Studio from 29 September – 1 October. Meremere is compelling art, weaving stories from Bell's incredible journey with dance, movement, and theatre. Also, it will feature two new commissioned works that explore a new world of possibilities with the debut of When The World Turns and Momentum.”

We feel that this festival will broaden the spectrum of art and create a sense of belonging, provide authentic stories and a stage to voice out their feeling through incredible art.
